Dr. Ivey was born and raised in the pacific northwest and comes from a family of 10. He graduated with a degree in Biology from Brigham Young University. He got his podiatry degree from California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1999. Looking for sunshine brought Dr. Ivey and his family to New Mexico for training at both the VA Hospital and Lovelace Hospital. He has specialty training in rearfoot and ankle reconstruction and took a special interest in podiatric sports medicine during his third year of residency and is very adept at using orthotics to control a variety of foot problems that would otherwise require surgery.
He is the founder of New Mexico Foot & Ankle Institute and takes pride in making it the premier location to get your foot and ankle care. He was the only physician in New Mexico using shockwave therapy as an alternative to surgery for chronic heel pain and other chronic conditions. He was the first physician in New Mexico to use laser therapy to treat fungal nails and has been doing such for 12 years now. The practice continues his legacy of using laser therapy for both fungus and now for a variety of other painful conditions as well.
This past year Dr. Ivey became the first surgeon in the region to be certified in minimal incision bunion surgery. He has worked tirelessly over the past 20 years to be the best bunion surgeon in the state of New Mexico and is very excited to now launch another breakthrough in bunion surgery to New Mexico.
Dr. Ivey is involved in many activities within the community. He is actively involved with teaching through the VA Hospital podiatric residency program. He is on active staff in both the Lovelace and Presbyterian hospital systems. Outside of work, Dr. Ivey enjoys many outdoor activities, is active in his church and loves just hanging out with his wife and children. He recently relocated his home to the east mountains and is trying his hand at raising a variety of animals on his small homestead.
Dr. Ivey is Board Certified in both Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is currently serving his third term as President of the New Mexico Podiatric Medical Association and is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
