Dr. Sara Stachura was born and raised in northwest Ohio. She graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with honors, a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology, and minors in Neurology and Molecular Biology. She moved to NYC to attend the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude as the valedictorian with Pi Delta Honors.

After receiving her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, she then attended a three-year foot and ankle surgical residency at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. This rigorous and comprehensive program is considered one of the elite foot and ankle surgery programs in the United States, with direct training from some of the top Podiatric and Orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons in the community. Her training encompassed all aspects of foot and ankle pathology and surgery, including forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction, total ankle replacements, sports medicine, trauma, limb salvage, and diabetic wound care.

She received specialty training in Microneurovascular Surgery at the M.O.E.T Institute in San Francisco, CA;  Arthroscopy at the Gemini Mountain Medical Lab in Minneapolis, MN; External Fixation at the Franciscan Foot and Ankle Institute in Federal Way, WA, Total Ankle Replacement at Swedish Cherry Hill in Seattle, WA; and Comprehensive Internal Fixation by the American Academy of Foot and Ankle Osteosynthesis in Dallas, TX.

She is board qualified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the International Foot and Ankle Foundation, and a previous member of the Washington State Podiatric Medical Association; she had the opportunity to give multiple lectures to the podiatric community through these organizations. She is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. She has been active in research, with multiple poster presentations at podiatric scientific conferences, as well as literature publications.

Sara is an avid hiker and has enjoyed the opportunity to hike the mountains in Washington and New Mexico. She loves the outdoors and takes every opportunity to backpack, camp, and/or kayak. She is an animal lover and was fortunate to have grown up with a farm that included many animals including elk, llamas, alpacas, goats, swans, and many more. She is thrilled to be a part of the New Mexico foot and ankle community.
